The Valve Source engine 4P(!!!!) co-op(!!!!) zombie apocalypse shooter's demo just got released for anyone that pre-ordered.
I'll try to remember to post my thoughts on it later, when I get a chance to play it.

Got the demo, loved it.
A few criticisms:
The action seems like it could get a LITTLE repetitive - kill a zombie, which alerts the horde, kill a lot of zombies, the odd boss zombie, rinse/repeat. I think the level design and set pieces will be a huge factor in making each level feel fresh. Repetitive or not, though, killing zombies is fun.
You NEED to play this game with 3 other people. You can play it 1p, but there's little point since the game forces you to travel with three other characters anyways. It wouldn't be so bad if the character AI was better, but I found that they were often getting in the way of shots and wandering off, which got a little annoying. I'd suggest finding a play group for this game before buying it, just to make sure you get the full experience.
That said, I'm up for it.

I picked it up on Steam...it's good...haven't even played online with anyone yet, and I'd still recommend it....ESPECIALLY today...Black Friday in the US...Amazon.com has it on sale for $19.95 today only...I presume it's still purchasable here in Canada, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Not a lot, but yes, I've played RockBand (I *knew* if I waited for RB2 to come out, that RB1 prices would drop into the sweet $10 range)
Also, slightly more on topic, Valve is offering a 4-pack of L4D for $150. So, basically $37.50 per person.
I already own it, but Patricia has expressed some interest in giving it a try (also testing if her machine is up to the task....I think it is, but wouldn't swear to it)...any other takers...it's $50 to buy a standalone copy (might be possible to find it cheaper at retail), and the Black Friday sales are obviously long gone, so this might stand as the cheapest way to get it for a good long while.

I think Amazon is going to have L4D PC as a Gold Box deal (read: cheap) on Monday at 4:00PM. Because I know everyone is absolutely jonesing to pick it up legitemately at this point. |
