June 2003

*yawn*

I've had 20 minutes sleep in the last 27 hours, and my only hope to not pass out at work tomorrow is to stay up another 11 or 12 hours.

On that note, J's barbeque was sweet, so I can't really complain.

Well, shit.

I guess by now I should've seen this coming.

Oh well, someday I'll manage to be relatively happy with a whole 2 aspects of my life before everything falls apart on me.

Hail to the Thief

Since it's finally been released, I suppose the time seems right to actually comment on it. Is it Radiohead's best album? No. Does it mark a return to the infinitely easier to get into pop vibe of the Bends? Not quite. Does it have a retarded CD player program embedded on the CD, thereby preventing it from launching properly in my PC? Yes. God I hate that shit.

PC-unfriendliness aside, is it their best album since OK Computer? Yes. While the influence of Kid A and Amnesiac are unmistakable on all 14 tracks, none are so wildly experimental as to alienate the first (or hundredth) time listener. It also features the return of Johnny Greenwood on guitar (or, for that matter, the return of guitar period), returned from doing all the crazy shit a guitar player could possibly do on an album, barring actually playing the guitar.

Ack.

I'm overly busy lately. I haven't seen much of my house lately, which is generally a good thing, but also sort of isn't. And therefore, this weekend, I intend to do nothing. Not the nothing I do most of the time. Nothing nothing. I won't go out. I won't chill with anyone. I won't go see a movie. I won't be gaming. I won't be working out. I won't be rollerblading. I won't be watching any movies. I won't be chatting online.

2 wonderful days, and 3 glorious nights of Nothing. So if anyone needs me, I'll be reading books and ignoring the world.

This turned out incredibly cool-looking for a mistake.

I really should be in bed already, but I'm not.

I'll pay for it work tomorrow, quite possibly, but for now, I don't really care.

You'll have to forgive the fact that this update doesn't really go anywhere, or for that matter, make much sense, but to keep my page formatted at all nicely, I have to have enough text to make the update stretch out longer vertically than the rather large graphic included in it.

Right now, I can't think of anything great to write about, but maybe later I'll replace this with a better update, and then everyone will get off my back, and simply enjoy what I think is a cool looking picture. Frankly, it looks a thousand times cooler in it's original scanned form, with all kinds of texture being lost in resizing/JPEGing. Oh well, if anyone wants the original 25+ Meg scan, I'll be sure to hand it out. Hmm, maybe I can replace this with a lousy videogame review or something...perhaps Ice Climber. God I hated Ice Climber.

Or possibly I could replace it with a review of Hail to the Thief, or ( ) which is the most fucked-up album name I've come across so far. A great album, but a screwy name.

Or I could write about my lunch with Patricia, which at least 80% of the people reading this page probably want to hear about, but it was all too brief and I don't think I could make what was certainly nice into something fun to read about.

Or I could write about how the Ring is utterly un-scary sans mind-numbingly loud theatre sound.

Or, since I haven't really commented on it yet, I could write about the Matrix: Reloaded, but that doesn't strike me as much fun either.

Or, I could do what I should have done an hour or so ago, and go to bed.
